Using Yoga For Weight Loss

 by: Michael Paetzold

Yoga can be put to good use for taking off excess pounds through the power of creating a state of mental and physical well being. The basic tenets of Yoga promotes a healthy lifestyle and when combined with a calorie reduction can help to speed up your weight loss. It will increase your metabolism by increasing the caloric burning process. All weight loss is based on using more calories than you take in. It will also allow you to increase your ability to concentrate and focus.

Your thyroid regulates your metabolism and is responsible for the chemical processes that transform food into energy. Yoga uses a series of twisting poses that will help to stimulate the work flow of the internal organs. This will cause your metabolism to increase and burn more calories which will eventually cause you to have a lower body weight. Another side effect is that it will help to improve your circulation and increase your energy level.

The various back bends combined with the forward bends will help to stimulate the metabolism. The poses that affect the neck region can be helpful in stimulating the thyroid if the weight problem is caused by a hormonal imbalance. Poses that will help the most for this include the camel, rabbit, plow, bridge and head stand. Going quickly between the various poses can help to accelerate the weght loss. Beware though that those seriously overweight may find some of these poses extremely difficult and should start slowly with the easier poses and add others as they become more confident in the easier ones.

You can use standing poses to increase muscle strengthening such as the warrior. These will help to create higher endurance and increase your caloric usage.

Remember that a gradual approach is best with all Yoga practices. The long term effects on your weight loss regime will become evident and even more so the inner peace and general well feeling that Yoga will promote within you.

Weight Loss Or Fat Loss - Important Differences To Lose Weight And Fat Healthily

 by: Chris Chew

Some people used the term ?weight loss? while others call it ?fat loss? whilst many use the terms weight loss and fat loss interchangeably. Do they mean the same thing? To many people, they do mean the same thing. But the terms may be entirely different in meaning. You must know the difference if you want to lose weight or lose fat effectively and healthily.

When you step onto your bathroom scale every morning, what you will be reading from the scale is weight loss and not fat loss. Bath room scales are never accurate in determining fat loss.

Why? Because it measures your overall weight and not your body fat per se. If you weigh yourself in the morning before breakfast after your bowel movement, you will probably get your lowest reading of the day because your body is dehydrated through hours of non fluid replenishment when you were sleeping...

A Different Weight Loss Tip

A Different Weight Loss Tip

 by: Terje Brooks Ellingsen

This is no diet but a weight loss tip that is a little different than most of the weight loss tips around.
It is targeted to people suffering from food addiction, especially overweight people that love to eat unhealthy, fat food in huge portions.
It is a psychological weight loss approach for changing food or eating habits by erasing the mind pattern that holds the old food habits and replacing them with a new and healthy pattern. Here is what you do:

I

Imagine yourself overweight and heavy, eating your favourite food; hamburger,

Think of this food as garbage that you have picked out of a trash can, that someone else has not been able to...

Seven Keys to Permanent Weight Loss Success (Part 4 of 4)

This is part 4 of the 4-part "Seven Keys to Permanent Weight Loss Success" series.

Key #6: Control your rewards

You've heard it before.

"Have a free day. Eat cheat meals."

It sounds exciting, doesn't it? For several days, you focus on ultimate discipline. You eat perfectly "clean" and don't deviate from your diet ... not even a little bit. But that's because you have a great motivator ... the promise of a day or meal where you can literally go "no-holds barred" and eat anything and everything in sight!

If you start to feel a twinge of guilt about your plans to assault the nearest buffet, you can simply flip to the pages of your favorite book and reassure yourself with the claim that this meal is necessary because it will boost your metabolism. It's okay. Have it all. Chow away. Stuff yourself. You earned it, and it won't make a difference...
